{"id":2,"date":"2015-02-05T17:47:06","date_gmt":"2015-02-05T17:47:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/solesticeclassic.com\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2026-03-12T19:10:25","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T19:10:25","slug":"sample-page","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/solesticeclassic.com\/?page_id=2","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>What is the SOLE-stice Classic?<\/h1>\n<p>The \u201cSOLE-stice Classic\u201d is a series of meets designed to replace the Hershey Meets.\u00a0 These meets are grass roots meets for young athletes to get involved in running, jumping and throwing competitions.\u00a0 This program is being sponsored by Aboriginal Track &amp; Field of Saskatchewan and Saskatchewan Athletics.<\/p>\n<p>The term \u201cSole-stice\u201d comes from the idea that the \u201cfinal meet\u201d will be held near the longest day of the year. The meets are geared for younger athletes who may not get many opportunities to compete against others their age in their region or from across the province.<\/p>\n<h1>How Kids Benefit<\/h1>\n<p>Participants can run, jump and throw in an event that stresses FUN rather than competition.\u00a0 For some participants, the program offers an opportunity to refine their natural abilities.\u00a0 For others, it may be the spark that ignites their interest in an activity that is mentally, physically and socially rewarding.<\/p>\n<h1>Who Can Participate?<\/h1>\n<p>SOLE-stice is a grass roots meet for youth athletes based on the age groups listed below:<\/p>\n<p>Age group classifications are determined by the participant\u2019s <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Year of Birth<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Meteors (Born 2017\/2018)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Comets (Born 2015\/2016)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Stars (Born 2013\/2014)<\/p>\n<p>To get involved; select the regional meet nearest to where you live (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.solesticeclassic.com\">www.solesticeclassic.com<\/a>).\u00a0 Then complete the computer online entry process.\u00a0 Note that some of the Regional meets will be accepting on-site registration.\u00a0 The best part is that no entry fees are charged to participate.\u00a0 The top 3 participants in each event from the Regional meet then advance to the Provincial meet held in Saskatoon on June 20th 2026 at the Saskatoon Field House, 2020 College Drive.<\/p>\n<p>Events offered:<\/p>\n<p>Meteors \u2013 50m, 100m, Standing Long Jump, Ball Throw<\/p>\n<p>Comets \u2013 60m, 150m, 600m,\u00a0Long Jump, Ball Throw<\/p>\n<p>Stars \u2013 80m, 150m, 800m, Running Long Jump, Ball Throw<\/p>\n<p>Wheelchair &#8211; 50m, 150m, 400m<\/p>\n<p>Meet t-shirts will be provided for each participant at the Provincial Meet to be held in Saskatoon, June 20, 2026, Saskatoon Fieldhouse, 2020 College Drive<\/p>\n<h1>Highlights of the Program<\/h1>\n<p>This program is very grass roots in nature.\u00a0 Some of the key features are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>No track spikes or shoes designed for spikes or shoes with cleats of any kind are allowed in any event. Competitors must wear shoes.<\/li>\n<li>No starting blocks are allowed.<\/li>\n<li>No Club apparel allowed.<\/li>\n<li>No fees are to be charged at any level.<\/li>\n<li>The emphasis of the meets is to have fun while getting young athletes to be active through fun competition.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1>Who We Are<\/h1>\n<p>Saskatchewan Athletics is a non-profit Provincial Sport Governing Body and is a member of Sask Sport Inc.\u00a0 Our mission is to promote the sport of Track &amp; Field, Cross Country Running, Road Racing and Race Walk by facilitating the development and maintenance of effective programs, which assist athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers in a fair and positive environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is the SOLE-stice Classic?
